When people tuned into Pokemon Direct there was hope and enthusiasm for a proper Pokemon game for the Nintendo Switch. Instead, fans were given a port of Pokken Tournament from the Wii U to the Switch and some enhanced core Pokemon games for the Nintendo DS (Pokemon Ultra Sun, Ultra Moon, Gold, and Silver). Needless to say, it was disappointing.
Nintendo decided to rectify that at E3 2017.
Right after a quick message about the porting of Pokken Tournament (again), they announced GameFreak, the makers fo all the core Pokemon games, was working on a proper core Pokemon RPG for the Nintendo Switch.
Breathe a sigh of relief. Try not to cry. Cry a lot.
I’ve been waiting for a core Pokemon game for the console since the N64. When Pokemon Yellow came out for Gameboy, Nintendo released an adapter that allowed you to play the Gameboy game on your N64. Playing Pokemon on the TV was glorious, to say the least. Now imagine if it were colorful, 3D and BIG?! To this day I don’t understand why it’s taken so long for a console Pokemon game, but I’m so glad they’ve jumped on board.
We probably won’t get the new Pokemon game for another year or two but I can assure you, it’ll be worth the wait.
